About This Special Issue
The main goal of the special issue of the Education Journal entitled Current Topics in Contemporary Literary Work for Children and Youth is to point out the transformation of various taboo or otherwise ostracized topics that have begun to gain ground in children´s and youth literature in the last decade. In this contemporary literary production, topics occupy a prominent position, through which young recipients are led to the perception of various problems of contemporary society. Through the reading of literature for children and youth, in which these issues are portrayed, they are led, among other things, to realize the importance of a democratic political establishment. In the last decade, we have seen an increase in literature for children and young people on the subject of the Holocaust or the Shoah, and the issue of minority sexual orientation, society´s attitude, handicap, and issues of migration, racism or hatred has also been developed. The research subject of the special issue will be publications in the field of literature for children and young created in the last ten years around the world, in which socially important topics are emphasized with regard to the implicit reader of these narratives, children and adolescents.
